Actor Blood Hits

These types of blood hits are used for bullet,  arrow, axe, knife hits or any high impact puncture wound simulation.

Typically these are either pyro or air hits, expertly concealed by our team into the actors wardrobe and then remotely fired on queue.

These are like much larger version of bullet hits, but normally created in sets or actually on location into the ground, buildings, roads, props and sets. These are normally either pyro or air-mortars, which provide simulation of hits into almost any type of material.

Hits and Strafe's Effect 

Creating Hits and Strafe's in sets, locations, buildings is one of our specialities.

We can provide pyro strafe's for wall hits, rocket and airship attacks and any other large multiple hit simulations or Propane poppers for a series of flame balls with pyro sparks, rockets, mines.

When bullet hits are required in buildings, cars, tanks, etc., we use our own in-house developed capsule gun, to which we make our own hits to simulate, wall and dust hits, sparking hits for metal structures (although often used for all types of hits, where more visible impact is required) and our specially formulated gel hits provide a very satisfying glass hit, without breaking the glass (toughened glass recommened)

Our Action Prop Blood Knives are custom manufactured in our BloodyStuff Workshops in York.  We can make reproduce almost any type of bladed weapon (knives, scissors etc.) into a "blood knife"

The actor actor activates the blood flow as they pull the weapon across the skin, providing a one-take blade cut with blood.

We also specialise in the manufacture of  high quality real-time medical blood action props, including retractable liquid syringes, phlebotomy effects Kits, Blood Transfusion effects and many types and styles of medical blood effects and stunt safe props

Head Shots, Bullet Hits, Off-Camera Effects

Our Actor Safe Head-shots and exit wounds use our air operated AirFX Squibs, making them totally safe to be fired from the actors head or other parts of the body.  Despite the extreme effect, the actor feels almost nothing.  We are experts at combining the AirFX or Pyro  with just the right quantity and mix of blood and gore to produce these effects.

Off-Camera shots are a type of effects used for set dressing with heavy blood loss or where the blood blast is viewed going past the camera onto a wall, shower curtain, window, prop etc.

SFX Cobra Wireless Firing Systems - Body Squib Hits

The Cobra System is a perfect partner for our Actor Squib hits, as it can fire both pyrotechnic blood hits and our world famous AirFX Squibs, so now with a single controller, you can fire/sequence for example, several body pyro-hits an AirFX squib head-shot, plus any other pyro effects required in the same scene.  The actor worn reciever can fire up to 6 pyro or AirFX devices, yet is barely wider than a credit card.


The system has been designed and built in the US by one of the worlds most renouned pyro firing system manufacturers and is fully integrated by FilmSFX into our in-house AirFX Squibs.

The exceptionally robust iGNiUS firing system, has been designed and built in the UK by one of the worlds leading High Explosives Specialists for the rugged demands of commercial mining explosives work. With extensive safety and operator features, we use this system for our many of our pyro SFX. Being wireless, it's very quick to setup complex pyro installations and the compatible Relay and DC 12/24V battery boxes allow us to incorporate non-pyro effects, such as Air-Mortars and other solenoid triggered devices to the control of a single operator.
